Sublime Collab

"Sublime FTW"

submission: Sublime Collab
date: July 16, 2008

Everything in general was at least okay. Some had good animation, some had good artwork, some had both, and some were just meh (but were redeemed later with good animation/artwork). ReNaeNae's artwork really stood out and was probably the best. I thought it was really good so I figured I'd mention it :D

Overall, a cool animaiton and an excellent tribute.

It was pretty funny, nothing too amazing but I loled nonetheless. And I don't understand how you insulted Jesus, although after reading the reviews I was excited because I thought the animation contained a vulgar Jesus joke (which, since it obviously pissed off so many people, would've been hilarious). Unfortunately there was no real joke, so next time, instead of leaving out Jesus jokes, put in some really good ones. Nothing's funnier than a joke about a Jew who tried to reform his religion and teach peace and understanding and ended up spawning an entire religion full of people who believe the Jews will go to hell. Time for the people to send me angry PM's and flag this review :D

For the time alotted, it was pretty good, although some were better than others. I have a question though, what song was used in Frozenfire's part? It sounds so familiar but I can't remember who it's by or what it's called. A little help anyone? Thanks.

@idkaf I'm sorry, but you have no right to call anyone/thing retarded when you can't even spell retarded. Congratulations on failing.

@review: The artwork was pretty good, definately the best part of the movie. The animation was okay. The jokes were occasionally funny, but for the most part lame or ruined by bad voice acting. The voice acting was pretty bad in some parts, and absolutely terrible in other parts. Get some good voice-actors and work on the script a bit.

The Beowulf audio wasn't great but the animation was pretty movie. On another note, the movie Beowulf sucked. The poem was much better.

Author's Response:

Yes, sadly these days with all this technology, isn't it ironic that the old written word always seems to be much more moving? Oh well. Glad you like the animation.

I'm not quite sure how this made it onto the front page. Either way, you need to work on a bit of a story line, and the animation as well. The animation was all extremely easy, he was just bouncing and wobbling is all. The artwork is good, but work on a storyline and actually put effort into the animation.

Characters- ep.1

"Keep Practicing"

submission: Characters- ep.1
date: November 21, 2007

Apparently someone hacked into my NG account and posted a review for this animation. The review was deleted and I ended up watching this animation just to see what this person had reviewed. Well I think I'll actually review this animation and try to give you (Steely) constructive criticism, hopefully without being replied to in a negative fashion.

The artwork was subpar, falling below the standards set for modern Flash animations as one with almost no ability to draw can make a decent background. Just practice with gradients and keeping things neat, but remember that not everything is perfect and it is better to make man-made objects more symmetrical and finished than artwork of nature.

The character design (for the first two characters seen) is interesting. It's not bad (although it could use a little work); I like how it isn't something used everyday.

The audio in this animaiton was okay, the voice acting could be a bit better, but really the script needs more improvement than the voice acting. It sounded old and forced. Don't try to be too funny.

Finally, the actual animation of this movie: there was little animation overall, and the animation that was present was either too smooth or too choppy. Not everything is perfectly smooth, however, not everything moves in a shaky manner. Practice lip-syncing and incorporate that into your animations instead of just blinking mouths. Reduce the amount of times the characters blink, as it became very noticable. Instead of having, for example, a character glide in front of the sofa and essentially jump up onto it, animate hands reaching out and pulling the body up onto the sofa. Overall, put a little more effort into it and practice some key skills, and you'll be set.

P.S. Please don't make intros as long as the one on this animation.

[SCRUBS]

"Pretty Cool"

submission: [SCRUBS]
date: October 6, 2007

This wasn't too bad, the artwork was pretty good and I liked the style of the characters, but the lip-syncing could have been a bit better. Everytime they spoke they were smiling. With li-syncing you need to cater to all the motions, making different sets for different moods, otherwise it will look static and what they're saying won't match with how they look. But, overall, it was pretty cool. And Scrubs is totally awesome. You should've finished the music video for it, it's kind of annoying when people submit unfinished stuff.

Author's Response:

Yeah, the lip synching does need to change instead of smiling at the most depressing lyrics.

Turtle Park Massacre

"Funny, But The Animation..."

date: October 6, 2007

This is pretty funny, mainly because of the music and the overall ridiculousness of it. The artwork was pretty good (although the grass shouldn't have been flat with the sky right above it, that looked kind of weird), but the animation needs work. Physics is pretty much nonexistant here, along with emotion. Work on making the movements look a bit more realistic, and remember, it's good to have an animation smooth, so it's not choppy, but when it's too smooth it looks unrealistic.

Author's Response:

Alright, thanks for the advice.

Salad Fingers Episode. 8

"Good old Salad Fingers..."

date: September 26, 2007

I wasn't really expecting anything too good to be featured on NG today, but huzzah, a new Salad Fingers. This one seems a bit better (art/animation) wise than the previous one, but still retains that class Salad Fingers look and feel. The atmosphere was creepy and there were situations that were comic, yet disturbing. Excellent.
